Iyengar Yoga Therapy is an aspect of this alignment based Yoga Practice that specifically helps people deal with and recover from all kinds of physical problems including musculo-skeletal injuries/imbalances, auto immune disease, fertility issues, insomnia and much more. I specialize in Yoga Therapy. I was drawn to this aspect of yoga through my own recovery from a childhood injury which resulted in years of ongoing pain. I have studied Yoga therapy for over a decade, including 4 visits to India to study and assist with the Iyengars and many seminars and workshops with senior teachers from all over the world.
How we begin:
I will take a full diagnosis of the condition you are dealing with which may include looking at x-rays, and MRI reports.
Upon meeting i will assess your posture in terms of musculo-skeletal and energetic imbalances that may be contributing to your condition. I will also take your lifestyle (whether you are sedentary or active) age and occupation into consideration
I will assess the level of pain you are dealing with. All of this informs where we begin.
The first stage is to deal with and get relief from pain and balance energy levels. Then moving on I will introduce the best poses to help address the root of the issue. You will be encouraged to practice 10 minutes at home daily and if appropriate I will help you transition into a regular class if you are not yet attending one.
