Guidelines
Santosha will open fifteen minutes before each class is scheduled to begin. Please arrive 10 minutes before class to allow enough time to change and get settled before class begins. If you are running late and arrive at the start time of the class, the door will be locked. Please wait 5 minutes until the opening meditation is over, then knock and if there is space the teacher will let you in.
Please bring bare feet, an empty stomach and an open mind. Wear comfortable clothing that is not baggy as this inhibits the Instructor from seeing your alignment (i.e. leggings/ shorts and a T-shirt.) As many people are allergic to scents, please refrain from wearing strong scented products to class.
Please advise your Instructor if you are working with any health conditions, injuries, are on your menstrual cycle or are pregnant. In these cases, alternative poses may be recommended.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating practice. Poses are completely supported by props such as wall ropes and bolsters so that the body can completely let go into the pose. The poses are held for periods of time encouraging holding patterns of stress and tension in the body and mind to gradually dissolve.
All types of yoga poses are included in the sequence such as forward bends, backbends, twistings and inversions. This practice is suitable for all. It is particularly beneficial for those suffering from stress and for people who have low energy due to illness.
